I have worked hard to make sure that isn’t much, if any, drama, in all areas of this little life of mine. So dropping items off for my kid at my ex-wife’s house is not a big deal. It’s even kinda nice some of the time.
Last night, I dropped off some medicine for the little one. She was having a friend sleep over. Within seconds of arriving, the friend, who was incredibly polite, told me: “I hear your daughter really loves you a lot!” Thrown off a bit, I composed myself and thanked her. She took the boxes out of my hands and my daughter came in the room with my ex-wife. My daughter looked at me and said “GROUP HUG!” and so, we had a group hug. The ex, the kid, the friend and myself, huddled together for two or three seconds.
A moment later I opened door and as I was about to head out, my daughter’s friend said to me: “You are lucky, lucky, lucky,” as she shut the door.
“Lucky”, indeed.
